I think what Henry is saying is that Frederick *used* to expect so much of his ideal woman, but now that he has finally fallen enough in love to think of marriage, it seems to be with a woman who has very poor moral principles. If Frederick really believes that Isabella is terrific, there must be something wrong with his understanding!
