When Frederick Tilney has his eye on Isabella although he knows of her engagement with James, he seems to follow in his fathers footsteps. I was really astonished to read in ch.30: and thankful for Mr. Thorpe’s communication, he (General Tilney) almost instantly determined to spare no pains in weakening his (Thorpe´s) boasted interest and ruining his (Thorpe´s) hopes.
They seem to be of the same stamp. Henry luckily seems to resemble his mother rather. What a pity we know so little of her...
