muslin was not that expensive. She bought it at a bargain. ;-)

So I don't think her dresses were in the height of fashion, but I'm quite sure the General doesn't have such a keen sense of fashion and all that it entails.

He just knows the Allens are rich and Catherine 'will' inherit, he thinks.
