Are you new?

I think the description at the end of the passage is what Eleanor is saying about NA and thus is true. But Catherine has so many thoughts flying through her head that she barely hears what Eleanor says about the Abbey and is retaining her own ideas instead.

I had wondered about the second passage as well - and now that Tom and Tim have given us 2 very different ideas to work with - I'm still confused! ;-)
