in consequence of the missive, What do you make of the general's hints?, penned by Lynn
So, the fact that General Tilney could see a decided preference of Catherine for his son Henry made him decide that it would be worthwhile pushing the match pretty hard, so that rich Catherine is going be a nice daughter-in-law. The only thing I can't make out is why General T (I keep thinking "Mr. T") should be conceitedly happy that his rooms are so much larger than Mr. Allen's if he wants to make sure that Catherine is rich. There has been this assumption (my guess) of Catherine being associated with rich people and will inherit it if not at her disposal already, but no seeming follow-up or reserve on that score. |
