I never fully believed John Thorpe about this. Written by Diane N. (3/19/2009 10:05 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Well, he's certainly Thorpe's kind of guy!, penned by TimLee

I had assumed that it was another of John Thorpe' half-truths. Somehow he did know the General, but I didn't trust his story at all.

I think John's comment tells us a lot about him and not necessarily anything about the General. The General has several bad traits but I can't see the General comfortable socializing at the Bedford (as the post describes it).
