irony?   Written by Karen G. (3/19/2009 8:38 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The General may be prideful, but ..., penned by TimLee
Are you new?

using "humble" and "proud" in the same sentence is rather contradictory, but it could be JA is saying a man who flatters himself humble would be proud of such an extensive collection. I am thinking now that it must be an impressive collection after all. But General Tilney, as Tim says, doesn't appreciate what he has, or rather he is a proud man and flatters himself humble yet still thinks it a vast collection. It's "humble" like a Mr. Collins is to boast about his acquaintance with LADY CATHERINE DeBOURGH! JA is so tricky!
