Right, the General is unable to appreciate what he has Written by TimLee (3/19/2009 6:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I got the opposite impression about the library., penned by nan duval

It's a huge collection, in keeping with the rest of his house. At least that's how I've always read it. JA seems to imply that it takes a humble man to appreciate a collection of books at any scale, and the General is constitutionally unsuited to possess that appreciation.
