Thanks for pointing this out, Karen - I didn't catch that!   Written by Line (3/19/2009 5:41 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, General T is a "man's man", penned by Karen G
Are you new?

It didn't register with me that it was a *humble* man who might be proud of this collection of books. I thought it was more a dig at *Catherine* that she was ready to go after merely checking out the titles of half a shelf, even though she sincerely admired the library. (On the other hand, I can't picture the General being willing to stand around waiting to continue the rest of the tour while his guest actually looked into the books.)

I think I may be able to account for the "magnificence", though. I can picture the *room* being magnificently and expensively decorated, but looking further, you discover that it contains surprisingly few books! I can imagine the General thinking "A gentleman needs (a separate room called) a library. *I* am a gentleman, therefore I need a library" (but the actual books are something of an afterthought).

What struck me about Henry's room was that it is "dark" and "little" - not much room for Henry after his father has taken up all the room *he* needs.

P.S: Thanks for pointing out the convenient location of the billiards room, too!
