Are you new?

Perhaps (going on the fact it says looked astonished) that we've slipped more into Catherine's point of view for that moment and that's how she sees him? Her embarrassment at being caught where she doesn't belong added to the fact that she's realized she was being idiotic in her reasoning causes her to project emotion on to Henry? Just a thought.
