Remember it´s only just the first mutual morning at Northanger Abbey. Having the prospect of many days if not weeks in her presence, there are plenty more opportunities to come I should say. Besides the General was due to enter the room - punctual as he was! IMO this would have been a very inappropriate moment to propose...
