There's a lot of this going around, it seems   Written by Cathy Allen (3/15/2009 6:29 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mistaken financial expectations?, penned by Line
Are you new?

The General, too, has implied it on several occasions. In Chapter 21, at dinner, for one example, in speaking of the size of the Abbey's Dining Room, he mentions:

"...that she must have been used to much better–sized apartments at Mr. Allen’s?”

Many of them seem to think Catherine will inherit to Mr. Allen's fortune. This being my first read of NA (I have seen both movie adaptations, but not recently) I'm really enjoying all the jumping-to-conclusions that JA put into the text. Just goes to show how much better it is to READ THE BOOK, than watch the movies!
