FOCUS: What Catherine Read --from Ch. 16-21   Written by Adrian (3/15/2009 9:26 a.m.)
Are you new?

From Ch. 16 to Ch. 21

No references to reading material, but in Chapter 20 Henry does tell Catherine a story out of his own imagination about the horrors of a building such as “what one reads about” as they approach Northanger in his curricle. Henry’s tale clearly pulls iconic images from Udolpho and perhaps other, similar novels.

As Catherine enters her darkened bedchamber at NA in Chapter 21, she also has thoughts that reference images from Gothic novels.
