What cracks me up about this comment of Thorpe's   Written by JoAnn (3/14/2009 1:37 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Contrast with John Thorpe, penned by Julia Catherine
Are you new?

is his saying that he read The Monk "t'other day". I can't imagine him reading it in a single day, though that's what he says. I picture him picking it up, thumbing through it, and that's the end of it, qualifying in his mind as having read it. I think his choice of words betrays him.
