Are you new?

...to the "spirit" of her dancing, I wonder if he was commenting on how quickly she had overtaken them on their way back to Milsom Street. Do we know that elasticity is a physical observation? This may have been comparable to mentioning to someone that their daughter was an athletic soccer player or spirited basketball player.

I always took elastic to mean "nimble," more or less, in this context.
