I guess I need to read up on whether having 10 children weighs in on this. I know in general it's "eldest takes all" typically for society at that point in time, unless some rich relative adopts you, or you're godchild to some wealthy benefactor (which I assume John is thinking is the case with Catherine and the Allens, etc.), supporting 10 children even with 2 livings and an independence is harder to do than if there's only 2 children or something. So I have yet to understand why Isabella and John automatically jump to the conclusion the Morelands are rich. Certainly, in this day and age, you'd need a TV show or something to support 10 children (or be nobility or something.)
