James doesn't have two livings and an independence, does he? Isn't that his father?


The fact that Thorpe dwells on the rich factor I think is significant. Not sure where John got the idea, though. I can't imagine James has been explicit about his own income. I haven't had time to check, but I'm not aware that we know what James' income actually is.
