Not sure when James sees through John.   Written by Adrian (3/10/2009 12:08 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Do you think, penned by Lynn
Are you new?

James does dispute with John over the traveling time from Oxford to Bath. Still, I consider it troubling that James could have known John for two or three months at Oxford (before visiting the family at Christmas time) and not have formed a clearer picture of his character. That is why I think Isabella, while a factor during the story, would not have been a factor for the first part of John's and James's acquaintance with each other.

Since John's family do not seem startled by the rude things he says to them in company, I have to guess that John is like this much of the time. While only guessing, I cannot think John is much more attractive around "the guys" than what we see, but you could, of course, be right.
