Are you new?

Jane Bennet is described as being practically perfect. We are *told* but not shown (IMO) that she has sense to go with her goodness, yet I keep wondering how she would fare in the real world, among people who really *were* trying to deceive her. I think this might be an example of where JA's contemporaries differed from us - that they at least professed to admire a level of "goodness" that we would consider unrealistic and self-sabotaging.
