"she could not avoid a little suspicion"

Catherine apparently believes that to suspect Isabella of any unkindness is to be unkind herself.

While I agree that suspicion isn't exactly a friendly characteristic, I think Catherine avoids negative feelings about others rather more than is exactly good for her.
