L&T question: All out at once?   Written by Ellen M (3/9/2009 2:31 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Yes, the financial situation may be key., penned by Adrian
Are you new?

From a mother's perspective, it's probably easier for Mrs. Thorpe to allow all her daughters to be out than to have one or two sulking at home. ;)

The L&T question is this: What kind of chaperon would society expect Mrs. Thorpe to leave at home with not-out daughters? Perhaps it was less expensive to have all her daughters with her on social outings than to leave one at home with a governess or lady's companion?
