I'm not sure.   Written by Emmeline (3/7/2009 5:03 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Do you think, penned by Lynn
Are you new?

But there seems to be some bitterness, perhaps because she is not a great favourite among men. She does not speak well of men in general. For example:

'The men think us incapable of real friendship you know.'
(btw, I think that's true for Isabella.)

'They are very often amazingly impertinent if you do not treat them with spirit, and make them keep their distance.'
(IMO it is Isabella who does not keep her distance.)

'Oh! they give themselves such airs. They are the most conceited creatures in the world, and think themselves of so much importance!'

Although, when it is Isabella talking, one can never be sure of the sincerity of her words. :~)
