Chapter 6: Catherine is modest.   Written by Lynn (3/6/2009 10:06 p.m.)
Are you new?

Isabella says:

Now, if I were to hear anybody speak slightingly of you, I should fire up in a moment: but that is not at all likely, for you are just the kind of girl to be a great favourite with the men.”

“Oh, dear!” cried Catherine, colouring. “How can you say so?”

Then just afterward, "Catherine coloured and disclaimed again."

This recalls the time when Catherine was so glad to be thought only pretty, and it reminds us that she has no expectations of being admired or thought to be beautiful. I love that she is modest, and blushes at even her friend saying that men would admire her.
