Good to have her brother's POV, but we know that he was careful to show JA as possessing all the contemporary female virtues. I came across the suggestion that JA enjoyed "Tom Jones" elsewhere (if I could just remember where it was.)-: In any case, you're probably right that praising TJ was *not* supposed to say anything positive about John Thorpe.
