We are told that Isabella is four years older than Catherine which makes her twenty-one. As beautiful as Isabella is, she has reached the age of twenty-one without being married or betrothed. Her lack of dowry is probably the reason. She is under considerable pressure to settle herself -- time is fleeting for Miss Morland.
