Agendas   Written by Robbin (3/4/2009 12:51 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Catherine's differing responses ..., penned by TimLee
Are you new?

I agree Isabella seems deceptive while despite his obvious teasing Henry does not. Henry and Isabella each have a different agenda and that too makes a difference to how Catherine responds to them. It seems to me Henry treats Catherine with interest and care. He is attentive and entertaining. He pokes fun at convention and himself making him assessable. Although at one point Catherine does not know if she should laugh out loud at him for the most part he makes her comfortable and is easy to talk to. From the start Isabella speaks of friendship but she and Catherine are not quite on equal terms. Catherine is in awe of her and I don’t think Isabella does anything to make them equal. Isabella controls the conversation and is not very attentive to her needs, criticizes Catherine for being late, tells her what to read and manipulates her into following gentlemen. I think Henry is able to draw Catherine out while Isabella just takes her where she wants to go. Catherine is more a fan than a friend. With Henry I think Catherine is less a follower than she is with Isabella. (;D)
