...nothing like the novels Isabella commends to Catherine in Bath. From what I recall reading in Amazon blurbs, Sir Charles is someone who always does the proper, gentlemanly thing (a Col. Brandon type). It seems the sort of book one would find in a clergyman's library.

I also suspect that during her many lyings-in, Mrs. Morland had time to read even long books over and over through the years.

My sense is that Catherine might well have read Sir Charles Grandison herself, but I do not think she ever says so.
