JA uses these works as examples of novels.   Written by Adrian (3/3/2009 1:00 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Sorry, penned by Amymarie
Are you new?

She does not say she modeled Catherine on any of these heroines of Cecilia, or Camilla, or Belinda. Catherine can be "the" heroine of NA [filling a role in the structure of the plot] but not "a" heroine [a type of personality] of the mold JA parodies.

(Of course, whether Catherine is the heroine of NA as we suspect may need to wait for further reading, since JA did use a kind of bait and switch with Jane and Lizzy in P&P.)

Of course P&P discussions need to move to that board or, if appropriate, Austentations.
