A girl who plays baseball and cricket with her brothers would be rather idiosyncratic, at least in JA's time--a little bit scandalous. So not only is Catherine not a typical heroine; she is not a typical Georgian girl-next-door.

So Catherine was exceptional, just not in the heroine way, perhaps what Henry finds refreshing about her.
