I hadn't thought about Catherine inheriting her reading habits from her mother. Very interesting!

The Homespun family is very similar to the Morlands, who are similar to the real-life Austens. I think large families in the countryside must have been common, so this essay would appeal to many parents. And it looks like parent-teen clashes haven't changed much in the past 200 years, either. :)
