DH laughed out loud on this line in Ch25:

and neither poison nor sleeping potions to be procured, like rhubarb, from every druggist.

I'm not sure why this is so funny, since I've never managed to get any rhubarb from our druggist. Perhaps there is just something funny about the word itself.

Had to search this out on the web and found that rhubarb was, and perhaps still is, used as a laxative.
