Oh my, oh my…oh my…   Written by Robbin (4/20/2006 7:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Domestic Offices at Northanger, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

I love the first picture the best although the others are very interesting. I especially love the oldness of it and the arches—it is gorgeous! Does anyone know the reason for displaying the turtle-head trophies? Is it because turtle soup was a sign of wealth or a display of good taste or a mark of a particularly fabulous cook or that they only used the “best” ingredients or is it along the lines of a warning to future turtles to lumber as quick as they might out of the vicinity? Also there is what appears to be a turtle mold on the large cutting board table so I think turtles are being played up in this kitchen! The large picture on the wall seems to be a gutted animal—as I am a rather squeamish person and gratefully unable to recognize it for what it was in life—could it perhaps be a turtle? ;D Thanks for the pictures JulieW –they and the information are fabulous. :D
