Henry Tilney...one of a kind   Written by Kelley B (4/17/2006 7:55 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Henry 's gothic pastiche, penned by Deborah Y
Are you new?

Really, I think JA achieved heroic perfection early on in her career and knew she would never be able to recreate another character like him ;-) Each hero is different in his own way but Henry certainly stands out from the crowd...how could there be another like him?

One thing that is interesting about Henry as a hero is that he was "designed" in a sense to be the antithesis of the gothic hero. He's not like them at all...and as a result he is one of the most charming, lively, witty and kind-hearted heroes out there. Even Catherine, who so loves gothic novels, finds herself attracted to a man nothing like the ones she reads about.
