Knowledge of Catherine's attraction   Written by Pennie (4/13/2006 7:05 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Eleanor Tilney., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

I do think it's very sweet that Catherine's interest in Henry is on display for all to see, but she doesn't even realise it. She's barely self aware of her own interest in him, beyond what Isabella teases her about. Yet she does let everyone know. I have recently read a book called 'Jane Austen's Guide to Dating' which suggests that women should do a Catherine Moreland, and let their prospective partners be aware of their interest in them.

Not only is Catherine not aware of how she displays her interest in Henry, but she is barely aware of the courtship between Isabella and James, although it is obvious to everyone else, including the Allens and of course the reader.
