Oh, thank you so much, Julie, for posting this info. My edition does not contain a notation about the Bedford Coffee-house (a condition I have just now rectified), so I never would have known about this establishment's reputation.

It certainly reinforces my opinion of bawdy John Thorpe. ;o)
