And it's all very 'intelligible', which doesn't mean it isn't written well enough ;-)
This is the *first hint* that the Tilneys, at least Eleanor knows about Catherine's interest in Henry. And Catherine is unaware of having shown them :-)
....on Miss Tilney’s side with some knowledge of her new acquaintance’s feelings, and on Catherine’s, without the smallest consciousness of having explained them.
