Picturing the Theater   Written by Kelley B (4/10/2006 11:09 a.m.)
Are you new?

Chapter 12 has my absolute favorite scene from NA; the scene where Catherine attends the theater with the Allens and confronts Henry Tilney about the mishap that caused her to stand him and his sister up. I tend to read this passage a few times before moving on because I love it so much. Henry's actions and responses, Catherine's emotional roller coaster ride, Mrs. Allen...everything pleases. But one thing I've always had trouble with is picturing the theater. Maybe this is a question for Julie W but if anyone has photos or sketches of what the theater might have looked like, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I used to picture the theater like an opera house with box seats high up along the sides. But then I saw P2 and saw something very different. How would it have looked and where might everyone have been sitting?
