...it means that while in a marriage it is the man's place to provide a home and the woman's place to be pleased (to smile), in the dance it is the woman's place to provide a pleasant dancing experience --by smelling of lavender and flirting with her fan--all with decorum of course ;-), and the man's place to be pleased with her.
