Two things I can think of:   Written by Kelley B (4/7/2006 4:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Some more..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

1. Isabella was closer to Eleanor in age I believe, so she may have assumed they would get on well together for that reason.

2. Mrs. Allen (though we love her) has a tendency to forget about Catherine so while discussing finding Eleanor a friend, Mrs. Thorpe (naturally) would have jumped on the chance to connect her daughter to a fine lady like Eleanor Tilney. Mrs. Allen (the poor dear) may not have thought to suggest Catherine . When they could not get to Isabella, Mrs. Thorpe would have then suggested Catherine so as not to seem like a snob.
