Henry and Catherine met after a normal course of events, both Emily and Madeline meet their admirers in faraway places with no connection to where they first met, and that too at private balls.

Thus the coincidence in the latter case is far greater.

*And Emma 'notices' Mr. Knightley for the 'first' time, across the floor, at the ball at Crown Inn.
