symptom ADD   Written by phil (4/5/2006 1:02 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Is this really a symptom of ADD?, penned by Tracy W
Are you new?

I don't think being a tomboy is a symptom of ADD. ADD involves a cluster of symptoms including history of it in the family. Hyper-Focus by itself does not indicate ADD but when you mix it with poor school performance, lack of concentration, her mind wandering during conversations and other descriptions of her character it begins to sound like it. The excessice talking would be characteristic of someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD which would probably be characterize her as being more troublesome as a child. ADD is often not diagnosed because the misbehaviour is absent. I think JA is not trying to make her ADD she is describing herseld or some on she new or was related to growing up. It could all just be a result of her being left to herself among a family of 10 children.
