JT is the most cringe-worthy character in Austen Written by Delories (4/5/2006 6:10 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr. Thorpe, penned by Phil

Every time he appears I just cringe inwardly. Sure, he's also very funny, but in an exceedingly creepy way.

I guess the fact that we've all known, and suffered the presence, of a Thorpe-like person contributes to the feeling. The fact that on this thread people automatically associate him with guys who boast about their cars and so forth, attests to that!
