?So there was a corporation that ran the town or baths?   Written by Mary Ellen (4/4/2006 6:21 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Pump Room, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

DH had a lot of questions about the upper rooms and lower rooms and the pump room and their purposes which I just couldn't answer. It sounds as if the Upper Rooms and Lower Rooms were owned and run by individuals. And perhaps the pump room was owned and run by this Bath Corporation? Did one pay an entrance fee to go to the pump room? Did they also have balls in the pump room? Or would you subscribe for the season so that you could go to the pump room whenever you wanted in the afternoon?

I hope I'm not just repeating questions that have already been answered.
