Some Warning Bells   Written by Michelle Marie (4/4/2006 1:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, First Time Impressions of Isabella Thorpe, penned by Pennie
Are you new?

I am a first time reader and I see some warning bells with Isabella. At first she seems like a great friend, but then she starts to seem a bit too flirty with men. The scene where she pretends not to care about 2 strange men and then follows them is funny but also a bit disturbing. At that point, I thought, well, maybe she is fundamentally nice but a little boy-crazy. I have friends like that. But then at the dance when she first promised Catherine she wouldn't dance without her, then almost immediately abandoned Catherine, sent a warning bell. It is one thing to be a bit flirty - it is another thing to break your promise to a friend. Maybe she just got too excited and lost a sense of propriety, but then again it isn't her first ball. She ought to know better by now.

I'm interested to see how her character develops. She is drawn in such a way that she could go in many directions. She might grow up a little and learn to temper enthusiasm with caution, or she might get more reckless.
