Thanks for pointing this out. While it was obvious that it was too crowded for Catherine to enjoy this outing, all these instances taken together gives a more indelible impression. Catherine obviously was mortified by most of the experience. However, I think Mrs. Allen despite her constant worry about her gown and appearance, is loving the opportunity to show herself off in the presence of so many. I laughed at the idea of them squeezed in at someone else's table. I like Mrs. Allen but, my goodness, how would she sustain herself from day to day without her array of gowns? :-)
