On the other hand, ten children would need to be supported into adulthood - the daughters provided with dowries, and the sons with professions. Plus Catherine has three older brothers, and we all know how much teenage boys can eat and how fast they grow. :)


Quite possibly the Morlands decided to save the money rather than spend it on a governess.
