Not to be contrary...   Written by Robbin (4/2/2006 5:05 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, My first GR post (longish), penned by Sarah Hannah
Are you new?

In one respect she (Mrs. Allen) was admirably fitted to introduce a young lady into public, being as fond of going everywhere and seeing everything herself as any young lady could be. (Chapter 2)

Great points but I have one question. :D Is it an unspoken duty of Mrs. Allen’s to find Catherine a husband? I think it is her duty to chaperone Catherine and make sure she does not expose herself during her introduction to society—it is a trust to be sure. I think if Catherine attracts a husband then all well and good but I do not think it is an obligation to find her one. I think one of the reasons Catherine is invited is because Mrs. Allen likes her and she is a good companion. Mr. Allen also has his responsibilities to Catherine and so far he has done well, as someone else noted when he ensures Mr. Tilney is a respectable man. :D
