First of all, "thank you" to all of you who have been so supportive during this Limerick Marathon! Ok, this is the last time I'll ask for your vote: the Finals! There are five remaining poems, and I've given them new numbers.
#1
I have a young neice called Miss Price,
And really she hasn’t a vice.
Although she’s not pretty,
And, a pity, not witty,
She’ll fetch what you want in a trice.
#2
I hope you will allow
It's time to take my bow
I love a good play
But marry? No way
That is my 'lover's' vow.
#3
Mr. Rushworth’s dullness abounds
Although he has 12,000 pounds
He is such a big dolt
In his taffeta coat
He’ll look just as dumb as he sounds.
#4
In London the couple re-met
Henry wooed the reluctant coquette
Oh how he persisted
If she'd only resisted
Instead they must live with regret.
#5
Mr. Rushworth was very well bred,
At least that’s what everyone said,
He had lots of loot
And a big house to boot
But he is much too thick in the head.
Vote for one only, and please vote by 3 p.m. Pemberley time tomorrow. It'll be noon for me, so perhaps I can actually do something on time! The winner will receive a Pemberley tote with their limerick printed on it, and the tote will also be available for sale at the Pemberley Shoppe. I can't wait! As always, vote at:
