LOL!   Written by Rachel G (10/26/2010 5:35 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, It depends on what you value most in novels and adaptations, penned by Tom P2
Are you new?

Loud contradictions at fifty paces? Perish the thought! Perhaps a nice soothing cup of tea and a genteel exchange of views....? ;-D

It is interesting to know that your perspective began with MP2 then moved on to the text. Mine was the reverse, which undoubtedly affects my judgement. I find that I am less and less satisfied with most of the adaptations as the years go by. The characters as written by JA live so vividly in my imagination that pretty well any adaptation is sure to differ and disconcert me in some way.

Then again, the variety of adaptations are little different from the variety of responses to the novels themselves. Some love Elizabeth Bennet and others love Fanny Price the best. It would be a dreary day indeed if we all thought the same.
