I did say that I rather enjoyed it as a movie. Indeed I think MP2 stands up rather well as a stand-alone piece, so you are not entirely alone! It's just that watching it immediately following such a forensic examination of JA's text as we get in a GR, the points where it departs significantly from the novel seem very apparent and tend to obscure the parts where it conveys the essential elements successfully.

I guess trying to defend MP2 at this precise moment would be rather like doing a post proposing that Fanny Price is a dull and uninspiring heroine or something - it is a valid point of view, but not much hope of carrying people with you, put on your hard hat and get ready to duck! ;-D

Not expecting a reply to this. Enjoy your re-watch of MP2.
